The main advantages of brass are as follows: its ability to be processed into various forms, its mechanical strength, its resistance to the corrosive effects of the atmosphere, its ease of melting and casting, and particularly, its low price due to the inclusion of zinc, which is a cheap metal. Some brasses’ brightness and color allow them to be used in jewelry.
When in pure form, brass is red; however, when zinc is added, its color turns pink, and when the zinc content increases to 30% to 40%, it turns yellow.
